Target Contouring:  "The gross tumor volume of the primary tumor is contoured on the averaged phases of the 4-D CT that will be used for treatment. The internal gross tumor volume of the primary tumor is the union of the primary GTVs on all contoured phases. Post-processed 4-D CT images such as the maximal intensity projection can be utilized to aid in defining the IGTVp. The IGTVp may be modified as deemed necessary based on co-registered PET and other imaging studies." - ARTIA Lung

"The clinical target volume of the primary tumor is defined to account for subclinical extension of primary tumor beyond what is visible on imaging studies.
